Maybe you regularly attend business and marketing events, or maybe you’re not even sure where to start. We’ve put together a round-up of business and marketing events for 2019 you should look into attending this year.

Why Attend a Business or Marketing Event?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re attending massive marketing events like SXSW or smaller ones like a local industry meet up ““ you’ll have the opportunity to network, showcase yourself and your business, and learn new things. You don’t have to attend every event you find (and you probably shouldn’t), but choosing a few events in different categories can help you gain exposure for yourself and your business while building a network of likeminded individuals.

2019 National Business & Marketing Events

CES: Jan. 8-11, 2019 | Las Vegas, NV
Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association, CES is a three-day conference focused on consumer technology and related businesses. This year’s keynote address will be delivered by AT&T Communications CEO John Donovan, and many CMOs will be on hand to deliver talks to attendees from across the country.

Who should attend: While it may be a little late to get tickets for this year’s event, there’s always next year, and this event is great for those looking to launch new products, showcase their brand, or expand their business in an environment built on innovation.

SMX West: Jan. 30-31 | San Jose, CA
The Search Marketing Expo (SMX), is presented by Search Engine Land and is all about search engine marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). This year’s conference touts a newly redesigned program all about expert-led tactical sessions and networking events over two days.

Who should attend: Those “obsessed” with SEO and SEM.

LSA Conference: Feb. 25-27 | Dana Point, CA
The LSA Conference, put on by the Local Search Assocation, brings together marketing professionals and related businesses to talk about emerging technologies and trends to help businesses market themselves and professionals expand their knowledge about the industry.

Who should attend: Business owners interested in learning more about marketing from the experts, and marketing professionals.

Pubcon Florida: Mar. 5-7 | Fort Lauderdale, FL
Pubcon Florida is a conference where marketers and business owners can learn the latest in SEO, SEM, social media, content marketing, and more. The attendees are able to network and interact with expert-level speakers ““ this year’s keynote addresses will be delivered by professionals from Google.

Who should attend: Anyone interested in learning more about digital marketing tactics and strategies from experts.

SXSW: Mar. 8-17, 2019 | Austin, TX
SXSW brings together business, entertainment, music, and more all in the heart of Texas, Austin, Texas, that is. During this nine-day event, you can check out exhibitors, speakers, movie screenings, and much more. This year’s speakers include Elisabeth Moss, Trevor Noah, and Busy Phillips on the entertainment side and representatives from businesses like Amazon, Hulu, CNN, and many more are slated to attend and speak.

Who should attend: Any business or business owner in the tech industry, those interested in networking with companies (big and small) that can help provide specific technology-based solutions, and anyone interested in seeing what’s coming up for 2019.

LOAC2019: Mar. 11-12 | New York City, NY
The Local Online Advertising Conference, or LOAC, is all about local, digital marketing, and advertising. LOAC typically attracts 300 to 500 attendees each year, and speakers this year come from big players like Google, Facebook, and Yelp.

Who should attend: Anyone looking to get more information and network with professionals in the local marketing space.

Social Media Marketing World: Mar. 20-22 | San Diego, CA
Social Media Marketing World is brought to you by Social Media Examiner and features thought and industry leaders presenting about social media and how it plays into marketing and customer service. This conference is all about presenting actionable ideas and insights to help marketers improve their social media prowess.

Who should attend: Marketing professionals looking to increase their expertise in social media marketing. The majority of attendees work for or own businesses with fewer than 100 employees.

MarTech West: Apr. 3-5 | San Jose, CA; MarTech East: Sept. 16-18 | Boston, MA
MarTech presents two conferences ““ one in the east, and one in the west. This conference combines marketing, technology, and management to help tech-savvy marketers learn, discover, and connect with other professionals in the industry.

Who should attend: Those looking to connect with other marketers focused on technology and management.

Interact: Apr. 9-10 | Columbus, OH
The Interact Conference bills itself as a fast-paced, but fun, evented for digital marketers. Attendees can enjoy talks, workshops, and networking opportunities. The event is focused on content marketing, social media, SEM, analytics, and interactive.

Who should attend: Marketers looking to workshop and network with other professionals.

INBOUND: Sept. 3-6 | Boston, MA
INBOUND is a giant conference that has brought in speakers like Michelle Obama, Issa Ray, and Gary V. Last year, they had over 24,000 people attend and learn about marketing, selling, and customer service. Hosted by HubSpot, there’s a bit of a selling angle to it, but the conference touts itself as a way to bring together the community and industry professionals.

Who should attend: People interested in marketing, selling, and customer service.

Content Marketing World Conference & Expo: Sept. 3-6 | Cleveland, OH
Billed as the largest content event, Content Marketing World Conference & Expo gives attendees an opportunity to learn from and network with leaders in content marketing. At this conference, you can learn about content strategy, storytelling, ROI, and more. Last year, one of the keynote speakers was Tina Fey.

Who should attend: Content marketing professionals looking to learn more about the industry and network with leaders.

State of Search: Dates TBD | Dallas, TX
State of Search is presented by DFW SEM, a search engine marketing association, and features speakers presenting on what’s new in search and what business owners and marketers alike need to know about the search industry. The dates for the 2019 conference are yet to be announced, but it’s projected to take place in late October or early November.

Who should attend: Digital marketing experts and practitioners who want to learn more about how to make your online presence work.

2019 Regional Business & Marketing Events

LOCAL IMPACT events from BIA Kelsey are happening in three cities this year: Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New York City. At these events, you’ll learn about local marketing trends and topics of interest, including attribution and campaign optimization, insights from research conducted by BIA Kelsey, and more.

Who should attend: Businesses looking to grow locally and learn from proprietary research to improve their marketing campaigns and marketing professionals interested in learning from BIA Kelsey’s research.

Digital Summit
Digital Summits are held in cities throughout the U.S. You can see if there’s one near you here.
