LOCALiQ is proud to be a Small Business Saturday supporter again this year! You’ve probably heard of the event. This year is extra special because it’s the 10th annual holiday shopping tradition of bringing communities together to Shop Small. Every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, local businesses across the country celebrate Small Business Saturday ““ a movement started by American Express in 2010 to help small businesses gain exposure and encourage consumers to Shop Small during the holiday season.

A decade into celebrating the Shop Small event and more and more businesses are participating. Five years ago, more than 95 million consumers shopped at a small business during Small Business Saturday. On the Shop Small event in 2018, about $18 billion was spent at independent retailers.

Falling right in-between Cyber Monday and Black Friday, this holiday continues to encourage shoppers to venture out into their communities and shop their local stores. For consumers, shopping small is as easy as searching nearby to find local restaurants, boutiques, and coffee shops. For business owners, the Shop Small Movement looks a little different. Let’s talk about why this event matters to your business and how you can benefit from celebrating Small Business Saturday.
